Leopard - Savanna

Some of our big cats are 'rescues' - animals that might have been destroyed if we didn't find a place for them at Safari Park.

Here's Waca, our black leopard.   (2010)

Servals have large, sensitive ears that let them zero in on prey.
That's where Radar got his name.
The jaguar is the third largest cat after the tiger and lion.  Not only large but relative to its size, the jaguar is heavier built, has shorter legs and the most powerful jaws and claws of all big cats.

Powerful killer: The jaguar is strong rather than speedy, powerful rather than graceful. The South American Indians call it "Yaguara"—the wild beast that kills in a single bound.

It is the only big cat to kill prey with a single powerful bite to the back of the head, instead of biting the neck or throat. A jaguar's powerful jaws allows it to eat armoured creatures seldom eaten by other predators such as turtles and armadillos.
