We are only days away from beginning our 23rd year. All of the infrastructure of Safari Zoological Park is paid for; the animals, habitats, equipment and the property. The only way that this has happened is that GOD has sustained it. He has used the resources of people praying for the zoo along with a lot of hard work, people getting involved and investing monetarily in the welfare of this facility. It is a great privilege to have families visit year after year. Now for some, it's the 3rd generation that has begun coming. So much of the financial support that has come in has gone into improvements and feeding the animals. The cost of operations for the zoo has for most of the years exceeded the income that was brought in. My wife, Allie has been helping us to survive for a long time and now its time to make it support itself. We get no federal or state funding. Our season is just about 90 days in total. The operation cost is about $200.00 a day, without wages to anyone. Last year we had a huge interest in the tree house. It is imperative that we get the restrooms and concession stand done in the next 3-4 months to be able to use the new facility. Many youth groups, and families are looking forward to spending the night and hearing all the cool animal sounds. Most of all we are excited about the Creation Camp which can bring youth in from all around the country. |
